MassiveAttack.co.uk:

The official website produced by a London web consultancy firm called Hi-Res, that in its current state is still been used as a promotional website for 100th Window since it went live in January 2003. The website is designed completely in Flash, so you must have Macromedia Flash installed on your computer before attempting to view the site. During the 2003 tour, the site was updated frequently with photos from each of the individual shows. These photos have since early 2007 disappeared from the site inexplicably. Since the 2003 tour, the site has been very infrequently updated. The last update to the site was in Summer 2004 and has been pretty much dead since. Do not expect any major updates to the official site until the release of the next Massive Attack album. As a sidenote, the alternative address of massiveattack.com, will redirect you seamlessly to the co.uk suffix.

UPDATE: As of 15th February 2008, the official Massive Attack site has undergone a major overhaul in design and aesthetics. The site is no longer promoting 100th Window solely and instead of being entirely made out of Flash is using standard HTML/PHP (which should be more easily updateable) with Flash being used just to load up the background images/videos and music loops. Other improvements on the site include an RSS feed of the major news items/blog entries and a search feature which is archiving all the old videos that have been hosted on massiveattack.co.uk for the last 10 years.

Massive Attack Official Forum:

This is the officially endorsed forum for Massive Attack which is based upon the popular message board technology PHPBB. It replaced the old The Raft message board when it came out in December 2002, having far better search facilities and a more aesthetic design. Currently, the forum is divided into four sub forums, namely being Everywhat (i.e General, seemingly a play on the Massive Attack song Everywhen), 100th Window, Tour and Non-MA. Beginning in 2006, unfortunately the official forum started to become prone to spam attacks as automated spambots began flooding the Everywhat section of the forum with all forms of spam. The Everywhat section was inundated with spam on a daily basis and became a very infuriating experience considering Massive Attack’s management have not done much in the way of alleviating the torrent of spam. Finally, towards the end of 2007, three moderators were appointed to manage the board - Pee, astral and Jeff (caz has now replaced jeff as moderator, as of Summer 2008). They have managed to turn the forum around again and eliminated the spam and made the official forum a pleasant experience again.

MySpace:

Beginning at the end of June 2007, Massive Attack followed many of their musical peers by launching an official MySpace page. At the moment the one exclusive the page has is a previouly unheard remix of Risingson called “Setting Sun Dub 2″. The MySpace page also promises more upcoming exclusives in the unspecfied future. Just before the 2008 tour commenced Avalanche, who is in charge over at Red Lines, and also a well respected member of the fan community, was given charge of the official MySpace and regularly posts on the blog there updating fans of news regarding the band and any of the causes they support. There is also a link to the MySpace page in the top bar navigation on all pages of MASSIVEATTACK.IE.

Facebook:

Much like MySpace, Facebook is a social networking site that has become hugely popular in the last 3 years. The official Facebook page for Massive Attack allows like minded fans to meet and discuss their favourite band in discussion forums, listen to song samples and then buy them, upload photo albums of the band playing live and offers links to other Massive Attack resources on the internet. There is also a link to the Facebook page in the top bar navigation on all pages of MASSIVEATTACK.IE.

Last.FM:

Last.FM is a slightly different form of social networking site from either MySpace or Facebook, but it has some very unique features of its own that set it apart. It’s audio scrobbler plugin for most popular media players allows users to share their musical perferences directly with each other without any effort, such as most played tracks and bands with each other and compile charts on weekly and overall periods. The Last.FM page has dynamically generated content from YouTube and other sites, and allows users to blog and discuss Massive Attack among themselves and find similar artists who offer musical similarites to Massive Attack. Lastly the Event section allows users to upload reviews and pictures of experienceing Massive Attack live. There is also a link to the Last.FM page in the top bar navigation on all pages of MASSIVEATTACK.IE.

Collected Minisite:

This minisite was designed to promote not only the release of Collected, but of all of Massive Attack’s other major album releases in the run-up to Collected’s release. The microsite expanded its content to include each album starting with Blue Lines on the 10th January 2006 and working its way up in chronological order until Live with Me on the 13th March where it skipped 2 weeks until the 27th March, where it revealed the Collected content. The content for each album revealed included a music and video player, mobile ringtunes, wallpaper, screensaver, buddy icons and in the case of Collected, an EPK Interview Podcast split into 5 parts. The website is designed completely in Flash, so you must have Macromedia Flash installed on your computer before attempting to view the site. It is doubtful that the website will be updated anymore.

The Raft:

The Raft website is a promotional website for all Virgin Records artists including Massive Attack. Massive Attack’s particular page is only updated whenever there is a new Massive Attack release to promote. There are also unique (to this site) interviews with 3D which were filmed to promote 100th Window.

The Raft (Old Site):

This older version of Raft website was a promotional website for all Virgin Records artists including Massive Attack, until the new Raft page succeeded it sometime in 2003. The old Raft site last entry on Massive Attack was a nicely detailed press release for the Eleven Promos DVD that was released in November 2001.

The Raft Message Board:

The Raft ’s own message board devoted to Massive Attack was the only proper and official forum to discuss Massive Attack from 2001 until the new Massive Attack official forum was launched in December 2002. It had no proper search facility and a very plain look. Unfortunately around mid 2003, The Raft message board was taken offline. The good news is that the message board is still assessable by using the Internet Archive.

NeilDavidge.com:

An excellent Flash-based portfolio site of Massive Attack producer Neil Davidge. The site chronicles his work with the band and any and all side-projects he has undertaken since the mid-90’s. Importantly, the site also features some otherwise hard to find tracks that Neil along with 3D (under the onepointsix moniker), have undertaken on behalf of advertisements for the likes of Jaguar and Smirnoff. There is also a comprehensive discography section along with contact details for his music management.

Risingson Minisite:

This minisite was setup in the summer of 1997 in order to help promote the release of the Risingson single in the UK and also to promote the 1997 live tour. While by today’s standards the site is quite basic, it is still of interest as it contains the lyrics to Risingson and as this is an official site, these lyrics are apprantely the official lyrics as well from Massive Attack.

100th Window Tour:

This site was created to offer an up to date list of all 2003 tour dates but more importantly it was the method by which fans could communicate with the 2003 tour by sending messages via this site to show up on the large LED screen, for whichever particular show. This was done through a collaboration between web designers Hi-Res and the company behind the tour visuals UVA.

100th Window Minisite:

This minisite was designed to promote the album release of 100th Window back in February 2003. The minisite itself is just a simple Flash based media player that streams all the songs from 100th Window. The website is designed completely in Flash, so you must have Macromedia Flash installed on your computer before attempting to view the site.

100th Window E-Card:

This e-card was designed to promote the album release of 100th Window back in February 2003. The content on the site includes the press release for the album, 2003 tour info and a sound and video player that streams the Special Cases promo video to your computer. The website is designed completely in Flash, so you must have Macromedia Flash installed on your computer before attempting to view the site.

Danny The Dog Minisite:

MassiveAttack.co.uk (Old Site):

This was the official Massive Attack until the new website replaced it in February 2003 to promote 100th Window. The content on the site includes a gallery and video section with the corresponding media for those sections been done by 3D between 2001 and 2002, a media player to stream rare B-Sides and remixes to your computer and the ability to download the internet only single release Nature Of Threat. Interestingly, some of the sound samples, which probably came from the Lupine Hoel sessions, used on the site would later be used on later Massive Attack soundtrack projects Danny The Dog and Bullet Boy. The website is designed completely in Flash, so you must have Macromedia Flash installed on your computer before attempting to view the site.

MassiveAttack.co.uk (Even Older Site):
