History:

Originally an early demo track taken from the Mezzanine sessions but never properly finished, Silent Spring was finally dusted off the shelf due to Massive Attack's fondness for it, and given a new mix to improve it sonically for inclusion on Collected, Massive Attack's "Best Of" album. The song as it is on Collected, remains not completely finished and might be worked upon further for inclusion of a final definite version of the song at some future date.

Additional Info:

Elizabeth Fraser's vocals in Silent Spring are deliberately indecipherable and are of a made-up language, much like some of her work in her previous band the Cocteau Twins.

Live Appearances:

Silent Spring has never once been played live.
