Nicolette
Massive Attack had choosen Nicolette to appear on the album Protection after hearing her first album Now is Early and being suitablely impressed by it.
The repeated vocal loop shouting “three!” in the backfround of the song is that of Daddy G.
Three has never once been played live, not even in any live TV appearances. Obviously, Nicolette never toured with Massive Attack and the only other Nicolette sung song, Sly has likewise never been performed live.
How 3D described Nicolette’s vocals on Three - “Like Billiee Holiday on acid” [MassiveAttackArea.com - February 2005]
Nicolette on working with Massive Attack - “They were very kind to me, that is my biggest impression. They were very concerned about my wellbeing, and that I was comfortable. aAso I remember how leisurely everything seemed. because with shut up and dance I was used to working very fast in small studios, we’d be in and out in a day! But with Massive Attack we working in these expensive studios, with lots of expensive personnel, in a very leisurely, and for me then, luxurious fashion!” [MassiveAttackArea.com - February 2005]
