Review:

Wow, well we booked it from Dallas to Houston right after work. No major traffic to speak of. Got to the theater about 15 minutes before showtime. The theater was nice, but was anyone else annoyed by (a) those huge fucking neon Budweiser signs and (b) all the people talking during the show? Other than that a great show. Most noted change - Robert was so animated during the whole show. He did kind of sign language movements during False Flags and for lots of the other songs he did some cool, choppy dancing. Not a choreographed routine, but movement at least. They had a little problem working out song order in a couple of places, and the LED parts of the light fixtures didn’t work until right before the encore, but it was still a great show. D even got some political jabs in there and was fairly chatty with the crowd. We were lucky enough to meet Horace and Deborah, and then finally D at the hotel. He was very nice and after a few minutes of chatting, we left.

Additonal Notes:

This was the first date of the second part of the North American 2006 tour, after the mini-tour of the West Coast Massive Attack had done at the end of April.

Daddy G was not present for this date, nor would he be for all the dates in September for the North American tour. The reason for this being that he was on paternity leave back home in Bristol after his wife had given birth to their third child, the same week the North American tour was due to start. He would not rejoin the tour until the first of the New York shows in October. Also during his absense, the live setlist was modified slightly with the removal of Karmacoma in exchange for Man Next Door. This would also mark the first time that Man Next Door would be played live on tour since the Cocahella Festival of the same year on the 30th April, after not being played at all during the European leg of the 2006 tour.
