Volume Exhibt Opens

24th November 2006

An art installation known as Volume opened on this day to the public and which ran to the 28th January 2007 at the John Madejski Garden in London, UK. It was an array of light columns positioned dramatically in the centre of the garden, which reacted to human movement, creating a series of unique audio-visual experiences as one stepped through the light columns. Volume was the brainchild of UVA, who created the visual aspect whilst 3D and Neil Davidige (under their film music production company name of onepointsix) worked on the audio.

2006 Tour Comes To An End In Canada

The 2006 leg of the “Collected” world tour ended on this date at the Metropolis in Montreal, Canada.

False Flags/United Snakes EP Released

21st August 2006

The False Flags/United Snakes EP is released as an exclusive Itunes release on this date. It is the only commerical release of the EP following on from the promo CD and 12″ vinyl release of the EP back in June.

New Mike Patton Album Featuring Massive Attack Track

The long awaited collabaration project from ex “Faith No More” member Mike Patton, “Peeping Tom” is released. The album features a Massive Attack collaboration with Mike Patton on vocals called “Kill The DJ”.

Maida Vale Session For The BBC Recorded

15th May 2006

Massive Attack performed an exclusive live performance for the BBC at their Maida Vale studios in London on this date. This session was was broadcast on the Dermot O’Leary Radio 2 show later on the same month.

2006 Tour Kicks Off In The USA

26th April 2006

The 2006 tour to promote the recent release of “Collected”, gets under way at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, USA on this date. Not only is this the first date of this year’s tour, it is also the first North American date in nearly 8 years, the last one being at the Palladium in Los Angeles,USA on 27th September 1998.

Mushroom’s Balloon Gambit

31st May 2006

In a rare appearance, former Massive Attack member Mushroom took part and succeeded in breaking a world record – the highest altitude live concert ever performed. A promotional event for a new band called “The Girls” hailing from Bath, UK, the concert was performed in a one large 16-man hot air balloon over the Wiltshire countryside at about 6000ft for a lucky audience of two. Mushroom was involved doing DJ duties as part of the event.

Collected Released

27th March 2006

“Collected”, Massive Attack’s ‘Best Of’ is released in the UK on this date. It reached number 2 in the UK albums chart on its first week of release.

Live With Me Released

13th March 2006

Live With Me was released as a single in the UK on this date, in an effort to promote the release of Massive Attack’s upcoming ‘best of’ album “Collected”. It featured Terry Callier on vocals and reached number 17 in the UK singles chart in its first week of release.

Live With Me Filming Date

13th January 2006

The promo video for Live With Me, directed by Johnathan Glazer is filmed in Camberwell in London over 2 days. Johnathan Glazer had previously directed the Karmacoma promo for Massive Attack in 1995.
