3D donated 10 unreleased instrumental tracks to the Game Jam website “Ludum Dare”, along with the stems for these tracks to allow others to remix them. The tracks were made free to download or stream on Soundcloud.
Massive Attack played the last of their 33 shows of their 2014 tour, finishing on this date at the Treasure Island Festival in San Francisco.
Massive Attack met with Palestinian refugees in Lebanon while on tour there on this date. They would play a fundraising concert for the ambulance service in Gaza that same night.
Massive Attack kicked off their 2014 on this date in Sofia, Bulgaria. It was the first time they toured properly since the end of the Heligoland tour in 2010. They would end up playing 33 dates in total this year.
Massive Attack took part in the 2nd annual Secret 7 event held in London on Record Store Day 2014. Their song Karmacoma was pressed 100 times on 7″ vinyl and then different artists were allowed to come up with 100 unique cover designs for each vinyl. The finished vinyls with their unique sleeves were then sold for £45 each, with all proceeds going to the War Child charity.
Massive Attack’s former co-writer and producer Neil Davidge released his first solo album Slo Light on this date in the UK.
The third Battle Box release from 3D’s side project is released on this date containing two tracks “Mad Lifeline” and “WPIC”, which are remixes from a band called Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band featuring vocals from Tunde Adebimpe. Similar to the first two releases from Battle Box, it is made available as an exclusive 12″ vinyl from Vinyl Factory and a promo video is also produced for it.
On this week after a significant delay of just over six months after its was first announced, the Vinyl Factory started shipping out copies of the deluxe ediiton of 3D’s “Art Of Massive Attack” book to its customers. The regular edition of the book would be further delayed until the beginning of 2015.
A special one off performance by Massive Attack of their classic track, Unfinished Sympathy, was held in Paris on this date. The performance was for the lingerie fashion show “ETAM” – a kick off for the annual Paris fashion week.
